From an early age, I remember my mom’s lessons of hard work and the importance of education, as I helped watch my siblings, while my mother picked onions in the fields and climbed ladders, holding a bucket to pull cherries from tree branches. My love for education took hold from the moment I stepped into my first library, as an immigrant child, and was taken under the wing of my local librarian and teachers.
