Happy Friday! ❤️ So what causes bad breath (halitosis) in children? We get this question a lot! It can be a symptom of various conditions including post nasal drip, dry mouth, mouth breathing and dental problems. It is usually starts from the in the back of the tongue, nose & between the teeth. (It is often the result from the action of specific bacteria (gram-negative anaerobes) that grow on dental plaque. Ways to prevent Halitosis 1) Brush up to 3 times a day & floss every night 2) Brush the back (posterior part) of the tongue or use a tongue scraper (older kids). 3) Drink plenty of water 4) Have a great breakfast to stimulate the flow of saliva. Older kids can chew sugar-free gum to increase the salivary flow. #fridaydentaltips #healthymouthhealthybody #reston #restonsmiles #kidsdentalsafari #pediatricdentistry #pediatricdentistryreston #smilelaughlove | Pediatric Dentistry of Reston- N.
